About

Bury AFC Women (Formerly Bury FC Women Vets) was established in April 2019, after Casey Lynchey, our founder, took part in charity football match and then decided that she wanted to get back involved with football. She had coached and managed kids grassroots football teams for many years and so had multiple contacts.

Originally launched as an over 30s group, we are now open to ladies of all ages. Currently our youngest member is 16 years and the oldest 69! It has been fantastic to see so many women of all different ages, backgrounds and abilities together and enjoying the beautiful game!!

We now have a core group of around 150 members, but almost 200 women from areas all over the North West have signed up and given it a go! We do a mix of recreational and walking football but also incorporate fitness sessions and Soccercise! Additionally, we offer free weekly fitness classes online.

We take part in different competitions and events around the country and last year travelled to London to play Arsenal walking football team. Earlier this year, 29 members went to Marbella on a football tour playing male veteran teams on the Costa Del Sol. These were both fabulous experiences. As soon, as we can we will be planning our next trip! Want to join us? Then get in touch…
